Elise and Daniel, Port Douglas Tropical Destination Wedding

Elise and Daniel kicked off the start of my 2021 wedding season in Port Douglas. I knew it was going to be one big celebration… why? Let’s just say they invited 100 Victorians that experienced three covid lockdowns. After such a long period of isolation, this was their opportunity to unwind, party and do things only Queenslanders could do. During the day I kept hearing the saying “Only in Queensland!”. Walking around with your drinks, not using masks or drinking out of a champagne bottle. Oh… how the world has changed!

The weather was hit and miss. Expect this if you’re having a wedding in the tropics. Rain on, rain off. It didn’t ruin the spirits and the ceremony was easily moved inside the Sugar Wharf. The ceremony and reception styling by Two Tribes was beautiful. It matched perfectly with the bride/bridesmaids white dresses and florals. Give me neutral tones any day!

While we waited for a break in the rain we used the reception space for photos. If your reception looks this good… expect to get some photos in and around the space. Two Tribes provided a lush velvet couch for the bridal party to chill on before packing the Kombis with champagne and heading off the Rex Smeal park to chase some light. The best part of having a wedding this early in the season is Rex Smeal park is free from locals and tourists being an inconvenience in our photos. From May onwards expect large crowds flocking to this area to witness the sunset.

DJ Bart kept the music vibes flowing through the night and made sure the dance floor was full. This can be challenging considering the humidity we can experience in March. I don’t think anybody really cared about it… everybody was keen and happy to rip up the dance floor after a crazy year with Rona.
