Teneille + Tanksy, Elegant Backyard Wedding, Mareeba.

Like many couples this year, Teneille and Tanksy had their wedding plans flipped upside down with the onset of COVID-19 and tight gathering restrictions across the country, but they decided not to let a pandemic stop them from exchanging their vows and celebrating their love. They stopped re-planning for a 2021 wedding (goodbye stress and anxiety) and went ahead with their original plans of a backyard wedding in Mareeba under the festoon lights with their closest family and friends.

The benefit of having a backyard wedding is the ease of creating a relaxed vibe, no venue costs, having the ceremony and reception in the one spot and for Teneille, the sentimental factor. There is nothing like saying “I do” in the backyard where you played as a child or getting ready in the room where you grew up. You and your guests will feel more comfortable in a space that feels like home and it will be a special memory your family and friends will cherish forever. Teneille’s family coffee van business came in handy on the day. An unlimited supply of fresh coffee kept the guests happy with tasty espresso martinis.

Once the official paperwork was signed it was time to chill at Davies Creek with the bridal party. We arrived at our photo location with a picnic rug, a basket full of food and esky with cold drinks. Nobody wants to be hangry during the photos and this was the perfect start to our bridal party photos. For the bride and groom photos, we visited the highest point of Davies Creek, hiked through the bushland and kicked up dust on the dirt roads. Teneille and Tanksy wore Akubra hats (soon after their wedding I purchased my own wide brim Fedora 🤠) and ended the session roaming in the grassy fields as the sun set. It truly was a perfect day and I’m so excited to share a few highlights today!
