Madison & Jess | Adventure Elopement, Emerald Creek Falls, Cairns.

Madison and Jess got married at the picturesque Emerald Creek Falls. The falls is a short drive from the town of Mareeba. The main waterfall forms a series of cascades over smooth granite boulders and is surrounded by a dry, rocky landscape nestled in bushland.

Madison first enquired about her wedding in 2019. She planned to have it in Port Douglas with a large number of family and friends. The dress was sorted and vendors locked in… until March 2020. Nobody expected a pandemic to ruin the Queensland wedding session. Within the first few months, many couples began to postpone their wedding date to 2021. It was around this time I teamed up with Hudson Films and we created an elopement package that allowed couples to go ahead with their marriage following the strict government guidelines.

When Madison and Jess noticed our elopement offering on Facebook, they preferred the “just us” experience. One celebrant, two guests (photographer & videographer) and themselves. Choosing to elope removed the stress of replanning and organising a new wedding date. They made their day 100% about them, their partner, and the experience together with no outside distractions or drama.

“The larger style of wedding wasn’t us, and we weren’t going to let Covid-19 stop us from getting married.”

We laughed together, explored the walking trails, and truly enjoyed each other’s company. I love it when I become friends with the couples I get to photograph, and these two beautiful souls are no exception! Their love for each other was evident in every little detail - from the way they spoke to each other to how they reached out on reflex to grab each other’s hands while hiking. Looking back through these photos, I fall more in love with Tablelands and the endless beautiful hikes are perfect for adventurous elopements.
